A Colorado seventh grader advances to the quarterfinals in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Aditi Muthulumar, 12, of Westminster sailed through three preliminary rounds Tuesday. The student at Hulstrom Options K-8 in Northglenn correctly spelled 'hsaing-waing' in the first round and 'infotainment' in the third round. In round two, she correctly gave the definition of an accomplice. Colorado's second participant, Sofia Tommey, a fifth grader from Boulder, was eliminated after she misspelled pappardelle – missing the third 'p' in the word.
